What is Mamá Mambo?
It is a culinary lab and cultural house in a historic home in Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone, founded by chef Maribel Feliz Saldaña and anthropologist Giulia Dalmonte Feliz.
How does an experience work?
You arrive at the house, we welcome you, we cook together at the long table, and at the end we eat everything we made. There is a cultural introduction to the origin of each dish.
How long does it last?
About three hours.
Do I need to know how to cook?
No. The experiences are for every level; what matters is curiosity.
How many people can take part?
Private hands-on experiences start at 4 people. The seated tasting dinner, with no hands-on part, starts at 2. For events, the house holds up to 50 people seated and 80 standing.
How do I book, and how is it confirmed?
Book through the website, on WhatsApp or by email. Your date is confirmed once the full price of the experience is paid in advance (companies pay 50%).
Can I book the house for a private event?
Yes: dinners, birthdays, weddings, company celebrations, team building and cultural gatherings. The house can also be booked to celebrate a marriage. Write to us with the date, the number of people and the type of event.
Do you have options for vegetarians or people with allergies?
Yes, we have vegetarian options. If you have an allergy or intolerance, let us know when you book: some, such as gluten in the fresh pasta, we assess case by case. Please note that there is always a risk of cross-contamination in our kitchen.
What languages are the experiences in?
In Spanish, English and Italian.
Is there parking?
The house has no parking of its own. We have an arrangement with Parqueo Plaza Colonial DN (Av. Mella 13): you park there and ride to the house in one of the shuttle carts, with a discount if you show your experience document.
Do you cook with fire?
We cook over anafres, the traditional charcoal braziers, in the courtyard of the house. It is how we cook in our Afro-Taíno experiences.
Can companies book?
Yes. We issue the tax receipts your company or institution needs. Write to us for a proposal.
